The goods and services Tax (GST) was introduced w.e.f. 01-07-2017 replacing the earlier indirect taxes viz. Central Excise, Service Tax, VAT, Entry Tax, Purchase Tax, Octroi, Luxury Tax, Entertainment Tax, etc. However, while the tax demands if any, pertaining to these taxes will be dealt with under GST law, refunds arising out of these taxes (up to 31-06-2017) will be dealt under the respective laws.
